How I keep my bowl movements consistent while having an ED 💩🤎 because you know a disordered bitch loves to shit !! an edrtwt harm reduction thread 🧵 🤍

  2. #2

Eating disorders often cause constipation, whether it's binging or restriction, it's one of the most common ED symptoms. It's not always entirely avoidable, but you can take steps to promote a healthier gut biome !

  3. #3

Let's start with the obvious, Laxatives They should only be taken as a last resort, if you've been constipated for days & nothing is offering much relief. Do not take more than the recommended dose.

  4. #4

Laxatives (Continued) Bisacodyl (Dulcolax) is one of the most common laxatives. Oral or suppository, it works mainly by stimulating your colon. Hydration & electrolyte replenishment is necessary for the laxative to work properly & with the least pain.

  5. #5

Laxatives (Continued) Miralax is an osmotic laxative, it works by solely encouraging water into your colon to soften stool. People often report that these laxatives are less painful than stimulant laxatives, but I don't have personal experience with them.

  6. #6

Laxatives (Continued) Magnesium Citrate, is also an osmotic laxative. Proper hydration before & after any type of laxative is CRUCIAL, and you should always do your own research before deciding if a laxative is the best choice for your constipation.

  7. #7

ALWAYS read the WARNINGS label on your laxatives before taking. Do not take bisacodyl with dairy, or Tums/calcium Carbonate.

  8. #8

"Natural" Laxatives 🥦 Natural laxatives are more gentle, and do not promise a bowl movement, but consistency is key.

  9. #9

Coffee / Caffeine ☕ Caffeine is a stimulant. It stimulates your brain and your guts!! It causes your digestive track to have muscle contractions, similar to Bisacodyl. One cup of coffee in the morning, and sometimes I'll shit twice!

  10. #10

Nicotine 🚬 Please dont start smoking just to shit, it does not work THAT well. Addiction is expensive Nicotine is a stimulant, like caffiene it causes your digestive track to contract & helps push out stool. I always hit my vape before I go to the bathroom

  11. #11

Walking 🌳🍃 Walking naturally stimulates your digestive track by encouraging stomach contractions & supports digestion. I usually wakeup & begin to get my steps in while I drink my morning coffee, this combination always gets my guts bubbling

  12. #12

Yoga / Stretching Moving your body is a natural laxative!! There are a lot of "Yoga to Poop" videos on YouTube that work pretty well.

  13. #13

Massages 🙌 Massaging your stomach in a counter-clockwise motion stimulates your bowls and can help relieve trapped gas, there are lots of different videos on how to do it properly

  14. #14

Fiber 🍎 Every adult human being should be eating generally around 30g of fiber per day, varies on age, sex, and personal circumstances. Do not suddenly increase your fiber intake a large amount, slowly increase by 5g until your bowl movements are normal and painless.

  15. #15

Soluble Fiber 🍎 As soluble fiber dissolves, it turns into a gel that can slow down digestion. It provides food for the bacteria in your gut. Slower digestion isn't always a bad thing, your body needs time to properly break foods down for proper digestion

  16. #16

Insoluble Fiber 🍞 Insoluble fiber bulks up your stool. While it passes through the digestive system, it absorbs fluid and collects other digested materials to form feces. This helps prevent diarrhea.

  17. #17

Fiber (Continued) You need a balance of both soluble & insoluble fiber to support a healthy gut biome. Most foods contain both types of fiber, but processed foods like keto tortillas are solely insoluble and can cause constipation at large concentrations

  18. #18

Lmk if i should make an entire thread about fiber, it's importance, and my favorite sources! 🥦🍎

  19. #19

Hydration / Water !! 🧊 Drinking enough water is necessary to have consistent bowl movements. Staying properly hydrated softens stool, aids in digestion, and helps reduce water retention. Fiber also NEEDS water to pass through your system.

  20. #20

Probiotics 🦠 Probiotics are little organisms that help your stomach break down foods. Good probiotic sources are anything fermented, so yogurt, vegan yogurts, pickles, kombucha, etc. It's best to eat them before or with your meals

  21. #21

Prebiotics 🍽️ Prebiotics are what probiotics eat to survive. Fiber is the main source of prebiotics. I also like taking probiotic supplements, always research your supplements before purchasing, they are not properly regulated.

  22. #22

I take this brand and notice results

  23. #23

Sorbitol / Sugar Alcohols 🍬 Sorbitol is in prunes, some fruits, and in a lot of sugar free candies. Your body cannot digest sugar alcohols so it works as an osmotic laxative. Do not intake large amounts, it will cause stomach discomfort in most people

  24. #24

Eating enough calories 🍔 If you restrict heavily, constipation is inevitable. I will not shit if i eat under 1k calories for more than 2 days. Those 100-600 calorie diets will end in constipation. Always balance your calorie intake and fiber intake, you dont need 30g for 500c

  25. #25

Not eating too many calories 🥗 Binging constipation sucks. This is a thread on how I prevent severe constipation after a binge:

    What I do to debloat & soothe my guts after a binge ☹️🖤🤍 an #edrtwt HARM REDUCTION thread that isn't JUST "drink water" #harmreduction #shedtwt #BED #mia #ednos #osfed #nottoxic

  26. #26

Possible Food Intolerances ❌ I cannot eat dairy, I cannot even eat low lactose dairy products without becoming constipated and having painful stomach cramps. Always listen to your body's discomfort, and it's worth consulting a doctor if you suspect a food intolerance/allergy

  27. #27

Don't be so hard on yourself!! 🖤🤍 Everyone gets constipated at some point, it's impossible to completely prevent. Take it easy, don't rush results, and trust that your body knows what it's doing. It's built to do this, you just need to support it!!

  28. #28

End of Thread 🤍🖤 I hope this is helpful in some way! This is not intended to be medical advice, always do your own research before changing your diet!!
