Why indeed is Chibi Reviews hated? Let's talk about it.🧵

I genuinely don't understand Chibi hate, at worst he says like dumb edgy things, but people treat him like Voldemort, is there a valid reason? i genuinely wanna know why hes so hated, like if its just personal whatever, but why does his dead brother deserve to be mocked?

Jacob "Chibi Reviews" Seibers started as a decent normal anime reviewer in 2013, but over the years he's become one of the most polarizing figures in the anime community.

  3. #3

Every single fandom hates it when he interacts with their beloved media because he is known to ragebait entire fandoms by saying extremely "dumb edgy things," and his increasingly toxic and racist fandom then starts ruining it for everyone.

  4. #4

Chibi initially started by talking about romance animes, like Golden Time, Naruto, One Piece, Boruto, and so on.

  5. #5

He was uploading videos from any fandom possible. And it can be said he gained a bit momentum with Attack on Titan. This is probably one of his early instances of polarizing content. He noticed that when he baited a fandom itself, and gave more spotlight to the problematic things in the fandom, he could get more viewership.

  6. #6

He started giving more praise to the negativity of Attack on Titan, and absolutely stupid controversial things from the fandom (people from AoT fandom might recall r/titanfolk days). Since controversial things always have a vocal minority, a lot of them started to become his loyal subscribers aand continued watching his weird takes on other things as well.

  7. #7

It can be said that he found a comfortable formula over here.

  8. #8

Again, Chibi has been constantly posting things every other day. If you scroll through his Twitter searching for a single keyword, you can find him liking, hating, supporting the hatred, praising the good, all at the same time. His entire identity revolves around find every possible clickbait.

  9. #9

After chasing more polarizing things, one of his biggest sins was Dandadan. It can be said that amongst anime spaces, that Dandadan season 1 was one of the most popular things on the internet at the time.

  10. #10

This is exactly where Chibi started making tweets to pollute the fandom. In October 2024, Chibi tweeted about a Dandadan scene of a female character potentially being assaulted, saying the animators "didn't need to go so hard."

  11. #11

He is very well aware that his fans like such predatory things. He relies on his fans to do the boosting of such takes, all the time. Because, the moment something like this blows up, he can make videos like this. And easily make like 100-200$ from such videos.

  12. #12

Going back a little, Dandadan was not the first fandom he tried this with. To provide some context for the next point, we have to go back to 2020. Chibi Reviews read Chainsaw Man and started tweeting about it all the way back in 2020 itself.

  13. #13

He makes tweets saying, let's respect the staff which is working on Chainsaw Man, coz they did a great job everyone. (This was him playing the good boy.) For the entire run of season 1, you can see him glazing the episodes, the quality, the voice actors, the cg, everything. He is a complete fan of the entire show. You can see it is not "banging" though

  14. #14

Immediately when he realizes it's failing, he starts digging through 4chan and talks about how Japanese people are hating Chainsaw Man voice actors, and how its bad, etc. Start making tweets and videos about how Japanese fans are hating Chainsaw Man, and whether it was a good or bad adaptation. He has tried to ride the wave of the director being changed but he didn't get popularity over that.

  15. #15

He still made a lot of extremely gooning tweets about Chainsaw Man, and eventually got his banger from Chainsaw Man by making the Makima and Denji ship Again, he is only making such tweets, to make everyone mad enough, so he can make a video saying "PEOPLE ARE SENDING ME DEATH THREATS"

  16. #16

Which is exactly what he did.

  17. #17

I am not saying it lightly, he was regularly making Dandadan tweets, so the fandom can start attacking him, and he can print videos

    @kiikazuu said it right.

  20. #20

There was absolutely no reason to get ahead in manga, then come way back to the first chapter and post this. But lo and behold.

  21. #21
  22. #22

This has truly never happened before for any other series, right?

  23. #23

He kept annoying its fans a lot until he said that he got doxxed. Pictures of his house, of his late brother's grave were leaked, is what he claimed.

  24. #24

In the same timeline, he also claimed that someone hacked his old DeviantArt to upload CSAM. But the Soyjak Wiki and archives show his account had zero deviations - nothing was uploaded. He lied about the hackers planting CSEM to gather sympathy.

  25. #25

And while this happened, many also pointed out that his doxxing was also him just posting his information from alt accounts, because there is absolutely no one who wants to do anything with this sorry person.

  26. #26

He has claimed he will follow up with a lawsuit about this as well, by the way. We will come back to that soon.

  27. #27

There are many allegations about him. He is racist to certain people, he uses the N Word, and the most popular one, "Loli doesn't mean that you're a pedophile." The tweet got ~2M views and massive backlash. He later doubled down in a video, saying loli/shota are just "drawings on a page" that don't harm anyone. It is well argued that being sexually attracted to childlike characters is pedophilic in nature, period.

  28. #28

Just check out his profile, and search these buzzwords.

  29. #29

In August 2026, Chibi used the N-word in an argument. His response? "I have been attacked non-stop by racists." He's also made transphobic tweets (stating "there are only 2 genders") and criticized "woke" anime translations, directly attacking people who work in the anime industry and calling his extremely toxic fandom to attack these people. His fanbase has a documented problem with using "hood weeb" as a racial slur against Black anime fans, and Chibi has done nothing to stop it.

  30. #30

Chibi also tried to ruin another voice actor by calling her "woke", and it is the voice actor of Rudeus, Madeleine Morris, because he doesn't know young anime characters are voiced by women. He framed a woman doing her job as part of a "woke agenda" because he fundamentally misunderstands how anime dubbing works.

  31. #31

In November 2024, his alleged ex-girlfriend Samantha May accused him of emotional abuse, claiming she dropped to 70 lbs during their relationship. Chibi responded in a video titled "I'm Done," but the allegations never really went away. They resurface every time he's in the news. (I am not bringing up the part about his fiance breaking up with him. But yeah, that also happened.)
