Summary

A thread providing instructions on how to report bot accounts posting links to child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on Twitter. Users should report the URL directly to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via their CyberTipline, then report the Twitter account, since accounts are typically removed quickly.

there's been a disturbing wave of bots posting links to what is likely csam in the replies of popular posts so here's a short thread on what to do if you encounter one of these 🧵

  2. #2

copy the url of the link the account posted, NOT the account itself, and go to report.cybertip.org to file a report

  3. #3

most of the form is straightforward, just select that it's media hosted online, and paste the link on the second page. I wasn't entirely sure what to put for the date/time so I just put the current one 😅

  4. #4

once you submit the report, then immediately report the twitter account!! the account will likely be taken down fairly quickly so that's why sending the link of the account into the tip line wouldn't be helpful!!

it disgusting that I even have to make a thread like this but hopefully it'll be stopped quickly I didn't directly describe what the accounts look like to avoid people actively seeking it out but it's pretty obvious when you spot it!

muting because it's flooding my notifications but I'm glad this is helpful! 🫶
