For those that don’t understand why this is supposedly a big moment: They knew Dooku was a Sith Lord, they knew he was in league with “Sidious”, but they did not know until this moment that Dooku was “Tyrannus”, the one who ordered the Clone Army for the Republic. (Thread)

12 years ago, The Clone Wars gave us one of the biggest plot twists in the entire series. 🤯⚔️

Dooku being Tyrannus finally confirms that the Clone Army was ordered not only by an enemy of the Republic and the Jedi, but Dooku*, who is in league with the dark lord of the Sith who has yet to be found. The Jedi have solid proof now that they are wielding a compromised army

Why not act on this revelation? The uncertain factors. there’s nothing they can realistically do while the war is raging. Clones are fighting alongside Jedi across the outer rim, and there is still *just* enough fog of war to stop the Jedi from making this public

Telling the senate that the clone army was ordered by the leader of the fucking separatist movement would understandably raise serious concerns about a massive conspiracy, and crucially, put the Jedi Order in a very tough spot from a PR perspective.

Announcing that the clone army is compromised to this extent could trigger a series of events that the Jedi Order isn’t prepared to face, and could make things even more precarious than they already are, so they decide to sit on this news until the war is won

Remarkably, in summary, the Jedi Order essentially acknowledges that they are being played by the Sith, and accepts that there is literally nothing they can do about it right now, instead hoping an opportunity arises after the war is won where they can dig into the conspiracy

The Jedi Order was basically dead already, just didn’t know when and how it would happen yet .

And to those who ask “why tf didn’t Obi Wan or the Jedi council put the pieces together sooner?” Dooku kinda tells him that here “i told you everything you needed to know on Geonosis all those years ago” And suspicions aren’t the same as proof. The uncertainly of war is real

The Jedi order had just enough pieces of the puzzle to understand that they were being played like a fiddle, but they didn’t have the full picture, so they were stuck in a holding pattern essentially waiting to see if another shoe drops.

Quick clarification: Sifo-Dyas ordered the army in secret against the wishes and without the knowledge of the Jedi council because he foresaw a massive war. After he’s killed, “Tyrannus” took over as the man paying the Kaminoans, who I do not believe ever connect that he is Dooku

This also helps to explain why the Jedi were so slow to connect that the clone army had dark origins. The Kaminoans continued operating under the assumption that the Jedi Order was the one that ordered the army. They didn’t even know Sifo-Dyas had been dead for a decade

So Tyrannus continued on as the primary representative for what they assumed was the Jedi Order and Republic. He merely stepped in as the new contact and never mentioned that Sifo-Dyas was dead, which would’ve raised questions from the Kaminoans.

I wouldn’t say it’s some big plot twist because the audience has known that Dooku was Tyrannus since AOTC. But within the story, yes it’s a pretty significant revelation that changes how the Jedi order views the war. They get even closer to the truth, but are destined to fail
