    So my intro post yesterday blew up in a way I never expected. Thank you for the support and interest in what I’m working on along with the thoughtful questions. I’ll continue to respond in the thread as and when I have time. I wanted to summarize a few of the key themes that I’m seeing in the questions and answer them here for all to see. 1. You are kiwi? Yes, Auckland born and raised! I have been living in SF for 3 years now. 2. How is the role of the PM changing? When I started in product we used to say the best PMs were “T”-shaped. They have broad knowledge across their industry and deep expertise in their specific domain. My observation is that AI is driving a shift to the “U”-shaped PM where the expectation remains of broad industry knowledge, but the most successful PMs are the ones that can move left and right of their specific domain. For example, I see many more PMs shifting left and running deeper analysis on products signal now that writing SQL is not a barrier. And I see more PMs shifting right into prototyping/design and even writing production code. If this topic is of interest, happy to share more. 3. My agents are struggling to use Jira MCP effectively Earlier this week we released V2.0 of our MCP with a far greater range of tools and better tool structure. Combined, these changes should allow agents to get more done in Jira and do it more reliably. Try it out and let me know where you’re still running into issues. 4. Jira’s UI/UX needs work We use Jira daily too and are deeply aware that we need to improve here. We’re investing heavily in improving key experiences. Last month we rolled out a greatly simplified experience for creating work items. This month we’re rolling out a much cleaner work item view. And we’ve got big improvements coming across all key views, including improving the board with real time updates across all project types. Keep telling us where we can improve and we will fix. 5. What agents are you bringing to Jira? All of them. We currently integrate with Claude, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot all of which can be assigned to work in Jira and added to trigger automatically in your workflows. More 3rd party agents are on the way. We also now allow you to write custom integrations with agents hosted on your own infra.
