THREAD: HYBE sabotaged BIGBANG, MONSTA X, iKon and YG by paying insiders to lie and commit crimes. How Bang PD hired a trainee, her girlfriend and others to eliminate BTS's rivals. 🧵

Using public sources and insider info, I will fill in the gaps and explain the truth behind these scandals: 1. BIGBANG TOP's drug scandal in 2017 2. iKON BI's drug scandal in 2019 3. MONSTA X Wonho and Shownu's scandals in 2019 And I'll briefly address Yang Hyunsuk's (YG Chairman) legal battles in 2019-2025.

One person was at the center of all these scandals: Han Seohee. Han Seohee (HSH) was allegedly a Source Music trainee around 2013-2014, as reported by Koreaboo. She trained at many companies and was let go for undisclosed personal reasons — possibly because some of them found out about her drug use.

Source Music and BigHit (now called HYBE) were extremely close before merging. They co-managed 2 groups from 2009-2015 and shared office space, staff and trainees. BigHit's execs, namely Bang PD, most likely found out about HSH's drug use from her time as a Source trainee.

BIGBANG was the #1 kpop group until member TOP's marijuana scandal in 2017. YG's group iKON debuted in 2015 and was gaining success with a hip hop-inspired image similar to BTS's. Meanwhile, BTS was rising to become a global group in 2016-2017.

Bang PD wanted to eliminate BTS's competition. He did this by (1) hiring people to sabotage rivals or (2) buying out rival companies—or trying to, as with HYBE's attempted hostile takeover of SM.

BigHit has an established pattern of neutralizing industry rivals. SEVENTEEN was the #2 boy group after BTS in 2019-2020, so BigHit bought control of Pledis, SEVENTEEN's agency, in 2020. Zico was an extremely successful idol rapper/producer competing with BTS's rap line, so HYBE bought Zico's label, KOZ Entertainment, in 2020.

And to sabotage BIGBANG and iKon, Bang PD hired HSH. In 2016, HSH got close with YG idols, and successfully lured BI and TOP into doing drugs with her. She then gave evidence to police and got BI and TOP investigated. TOP's drug scandal went public in 2017 and BI's in 2019.

Bang PD hired HSH to sabotage Yang Hyunsuk (YG's Chairman) in 2019. HSH collaborated with Dispatch and other insiders to file an "anonymous report" accusing Yang of misconduct, which led to years of legal battles for him.

Bang PD also hired HSH's girlfriend, Jung Da Eun (JDE), to sabotage Monsta X in 2019. HSH and JDE started a joint smear campaign the day after Monsta X's comeback. Their allegations against Wonho and Shownu were eventually cleared up, but Wonho had already left the group and the group's career trajectory suffered. This was timed to occur right as Monsta X were poised to cross over into the US market.

DETAILS: In April 2016, HSH arranged to sell LSD to BI. In their texts, BI said he was buying from her because they smoked weed together. It was BI's "first time" buying LSD, which is punished more heavily than weed. The context indicates HSH suggested LSD as an option first.

BI told HSH to delete the texts. Yet even though she agreed with him about the huge risk, she kept the evidence on her phone. By August 2016, police had obtained those texts from HSH, and she had testified about BI's drug use.

While still under investigation, HSH contacted TOP in Oct 2016. She gave a cover story about calling TOP and discussing previously meeting him in a cafe. However, their texts suggest that TOP most likely contacted HSH to buy drugs. TOP wrote that he had gotten her number from someone else, which fits poorly with her claim that he said he saw her at a cafe the day before and wanted to meet her. Two days later, he also apparently asked her to come to his place at 4am, which is unusual if they were dating, but makes sense for a drug delivery.

HSH sold TOP marijuana and smoked with him only 3 times on Oct 9-12, then stopped. These details fit poorly with their "dating" cover story, but fit perfectly with HSH trying to get evidence of TOP doing drugs. HSH then provided that evidence to police. This led to TOP's scandal in June 2017, and started BIGBANG's career downfall.

HSH recanted her testimony about BI in 2016. She didn't make BI's scandal public until 2019, after iKON's "Love Scenario" broke records in 2018. iKON posed a much bigger threat to BigHit in 2019, and publicizing BI's drug use would have been more advantageous then.

What is one of the biggest clues that a third party (Bang PD/BigHit) paid HSH to lure BI and TOP to buy drugs from her? HSH claimed she wasn't a dealer and she "had no monetary gain" from selling drugs to BI and TOP. Selling drugs in Korea is a serious crime punishable by long prison sentences. HSH continued trying to sell drugs to TOP even AFTER getting caught for selling to BI in August, and made NO MONEY. It looks irrational — unless she was secretly paid.

In 2024, HSH had a scandal with actor Ahn Hyo Seop, who sued her. She had messaged him to meet and said: "Don't worry about Dispatch; I have them firmly under my grip." Ahn alleged she may have been "trying to induce him to use drugs." Same thing she did to BI and TOP in 2016.

HSH was also revealed in court "to have conspired with Dispatch at their office to fabricate accusations against Yang Hyunsuk [YG's Chairman], to attack celebrities and the agency." HSH and Dispatch schemed to "submit anonymous complaints about [Yang's] misconduct." HYBE and Dispatch's close relationship is an open secret. Dispatch has run multiple "exclusive" stories using materials obtained from HYBE.

On June 4, 2019, HSH and lawyer Bang Junghyun filed an "anonymous public interest report," which alleged that Yang Hyunsuk had pressured HSH to change her testimony about BI buying LSD in 2016. And on June 12, Dispatch broke the BI story by publishing HSH's old texts with BI. Notably, HSH kept her evidence about BI and Yang Hyunsuk for 3 years. Then she coordinated with Dispatch and the same lawyer (Bang Junghyun) and reporter (Kang Kyungyoon), who publicized Seungri's molka chat story in 2019. I will cover Seungri's case and HSH's complaint against Yang in another thread. There are details indicating Bang PD and his associates were likely involved in inciting and amplifying it as part of their broader attack against YG and its artists.

In October 2019, HSH and her girlfriend, JDE, also staged a coordinated smear campaign against Monsta X. This attack came after Monsta X had expanded into the US market. They had signed with Epic Records, toured major US venues, performed at major American events, and "Who Do U Love?" made them only the second kpop group after BTS to enter Billboard's Pop Songs radio chart. Bang PD clearly saw Monsta X as rivals threatening to catch up to BTS, and wanted to sabotage them.

MONSTA X released their next album on Oct 28, 2019. The day after, JDE suddenly posted on Instagram asking when Wonho was going to repay her. HSH immediately joined in and alleged the debt was 30 mil won. JDE and Wonho knew each other predebut and had previously lived together. The debt was allegedly 6 years old. Monsta X debuted in 2015. JDE had years to expose the debt, but waited until the day after Monsta X's comeback, just as they were gaining US popularity.

HSH joined JDE's attacks against MONSTA X. HSH alleged that Wonho was in juvenile detention as a teenager, and claimed he and JDE had driven without driver's licenses as minors. HSH also publicized an allegation involving another MONSTA X member, Shownu. On Oct 31, HSH posted screenshots of a DM from a man alleging his wife had an affair with Shownu. The material itself contained Shownu's lawyer's explanation that Shownu did not know the woman was married and had ceased contact after learning about it. Yet HSH still posted it. This indicates it was a coordinated smear campaign against MONSTA X. Not just JDE's personal conflict with Wonho.

Wonho left MONSTA X on Oct 31, two days after JDE and HSH had started their attacks. On Nov 1, Dispatch reported detailed allegations that Wonho had smoked marijuana with JDE in 2013. The informant was "Jo," a former Burning Sun director and promoter. Dispatch had also interviewed JDE in October about Wonho using drugs. Wonho had apparently been tested by police in September, meaning Jo and JDE must have made the allegations to police even earlier. Wonho was eventually cleared of the drug allegations, but the damage had already been done to MONSTA X.

But it means this was all coordinated ahead of time: Jo's allegations of Wonho using drugs, Dispatch's exclusive story about it, and JDE and HSH's attacks against Wonho and Shownu.

The attacks against Monsta X show the same pattern as the campaigns against Yang Hyunsuk and YG artists: HSH coordinated her allegations against YG with Dispatch, lawyer Bang and reporter Kang. Together, Bang and Kang also publicized Seungri's molka chat story in 2019 as part of the whole "Burning Sun" scandal. "Jo" had been the first person indicted for drugs in the Burning Sun investigation, escalating its scope. And in 2017, HSH had already destroyed the career of TOP, another member of BIGBANG.

These scandals were all coordinated sabotage campaigns involving the same few people, targeting BigHit's biggest rivals at the time.
