Happy Pride Month! While there aren’t many, here are the queer characters of Ben 10 and its related media A thread 🧵

  2. #2

Big Chill is presumably gender queer and uses He/Him pronouns! Different crew statements on Big Chill’s: Dwayne McDuffie said he was “some sort of female” Matt Wayne said he was “definitely female” And DJW said he “could be like a male seahorse”

  3. #3

These statements make it clear that biologically speaking, Big Chill is not biologically male. However, Ben identifies as a male. Male in a body that does not match his gender. Transgender. Because of this, I am counting Big Chill as queer rep!

  4. #4

Rojo was revealed to be a lesbian by Duncan Rouleau, and said to be dating fellow gang member Azul!

  5. #5

We meet Azul in Ultimate Alien, she’s part of Rojo’s Gang in that show. She’s also, as we now know, her girlfriend!

  6. #6

In “Ben 10 Versus the Universe: The Movie”, we see a nameless gay couple purchasing a home together. This is the most concrete queer representation in the Ben 10 franchise to date! They previously appeared in “You Remind Me of Someone” playing in a band.

  7. #7

Parallel Paradox is a graphic novel from the Omniverse Era of the franchise! In it, you meet a few alternate universe variants of characters. One of which is Mrs. Baumann, a trans woman!

  8. #8

White Knight was “probably gay and he was probably in love with Six” according to Duncan Rouleau at London Ontario Comic Con 2016 Via @bambeptin on Tumblr

  9. #9

Not a Ben 10 character, but Garnet is a nonbinary woman who is the living embodiment of a queer relationship, between nonbinary lesbians Ruby and Sapphire! Reboot Ben canonically met Garnet in the OK K.O.! crossover special “Crossover Nexus”

Ben 10 doesn’t have too much in the way of queer rep, which is totally okay. I’m very thankful for what the talented crews of these series have been able to do, and maybe someday we’ll get more characters in the @DynamiteComics Ben 10 run to add to this thread next year! Happy Pride Month. You’re valid, and I see you ❤️🏳️‍🌈
