Summary

A sports scout shares how he landed his dream job as First Team Scout at Como 1907 (managed by Cesc Fábregas) by consistently posting player analysis threads on Twitter, emphasizing that showing up and being consistent with quality content is more important than engagement metrics. People have been asking me where I’ve been, here’s where… For the past couple months I’ve been working a dream job as a First Team Scout for Como 1907. “There’s always a Ben Mattinson tweet” has gone professional. Only God!🙌🏽 To not only land my first role at a club, but for it to be Como, a project I’ve spoken about so much, I’m over the moon. My first Arsenal shirt had #4 for Cesc Fábregas. Now he’s the manager at the club I work for. Surreal. I always had aspirations to work in football but didn’t know how to achieve it. Just over 2 years ago I started using my personal Twitter account to post threads on upcoming players as a portfolio of work in hope that I’d one day land a dream job. What I didn’t expect was to be a part of a great community, connect with so many amazing people and meet some lifelong friends. My goal has always been to showcase an eye for talent and constantly strive for development to improve my process along the way. Learning never stops. A platform like this enabled me to learn from great minds. It’s never been about engagement, likes or followers etc. It was about being obsessed with identifying and analysing talent but most importantly, being consistent. For anyone looking to go down a similar route, I can’t stress this enough… SHOW UP. When you don’t feel like it, show up. When it’s the last thing you feel like doing, show up. Consistency is everything. I would spend time watching games of a player, making notes, write a thread on them, collect videos and photos, only for it to get 5 likes. But my consistency meant I didn’t care, I knew the constant content would compound and ‘force’ my goals to happen. Anyways, thank you all for the support along the journey. We’re just getting started.

You never know when your work is being seen or when you’ll see the fruits of your labour. Focus on improving the quality of your content and being consistent; the rest will come.

Jayden Addai to Como?! You can’t make this up… one of my favourite RW prospects could be going to the project I’m most excited about watching next season. Addai is seriously talented. Said before he’s an AZ Alkmaar talent at the same level as Kees Smit. World class potential.

It’s easy to compare yourself to the success of others. “When will it be my time?” God’s timing Jeremiah 29:11 - “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” LET IT ALLLLL WORK OUTTTT

The clues were on the TL all along, people just hadn’t clocked it. There’s something weird about the fact I got this job when I had just hit 57k followers and Fábregas’ first Arsenal number was 57😂 Anyways, thanks again all.
