Summary
Nicole Shanahan exposed the Camp Lejeune water contamination crisis where over 1 million veterans and families were poisoned by toxic chemicals for decades, with the government covering it up and now denying most compensation claims despite 400,000 submitted. Victims like Virginia Robinson, who has battled multiple cancers for 40 years, and many others are dying while awaiting justice that Congress already authorized and funded.

Nicole Shanahan just exposed a massive cover-up. This is the most tragic and shocking story on 𝕏 today. The government mass poisoned 1 million veterans and their families at Camp Lejeune—then silenced and stonewalled the victims. Now, victims are dying “almost every day.” And RFK Jr.’s 2024 running mate is holding nothing back. Shanahan just slammed Pam Bondi for prioritizing censorship over delivering justice for victims of this sprawling federal crime. 🧵THREAD

First, bookmark this thread above. This story is a bombshell—and Nicole Shanahan just exposed everything:🧵

Nicole Shanahan just revealed that over 1 million veterans and their families were mass poisoned at Camp Lejeune. “The government knew it had toxic water on the base.” They were exposed to “PCE, TCE, benzene and vinyl chloride at very high levels” from the water. “This is a military base here in the US and did not warn any of the members on the base about these contaminants.” Virginia Robinson is one of the victims. Her husband and father served at Camp Lejeune. She first moved onto the base in 1959 at just 2 years old.

🚨Shanahan: “I don’t think people understand what a catastrophic humanitarian issue this is … ” Virginia Robinson’s lawyer, Ashley Keller, EXPOSED that the scale of the crisis at Camp Lejeune is “staggering.” “The contaminants … had been dumped into the water there over a period of almost 40 years, from the 50s to the 80s.” “Hundreds of thousands of people passed through that base over that window of time.” “There were Marines who had to train there, there were their wives or their husbands who had to live there with them, there were children like Virginia.” “That’s why you now have 400,000 people like Ms. Robinson who have submitted claims to the Department of Navy for the harm that they’ve experienced from exposure to this water—brushing their teeth, taking a bath, drinking out of the tap.”

Ashley Keller broke down the tragic history of mass poisoning at Camp Lejeune, going all the way back to 1953: “Part of the reason it took so long is you can’t sue the US without the government’s permission.” “After the water contamination was discovered by the government … the government just covered it up and didn’t say anything.” “So people started developing cancer or Parkinson’s disease or all of the other problems that are caused by those chemical exposures that you referenced.” “Then the community started to galvanize and realize that people who had been on this base were experiencing these conditions at much higher rates.” “The government finally fessed up a little bit and said, we’ll start to extend VA benefits.” “But it wasn’t until 2022 that a bipartisan coalition came together, 87 votes in the US Senate, to pass the Camp Lejeune Justice Act, which repealed sovereign immunity, which is just fancy lawyer speak for saying you now have permission to sue the US.” “President Biden signed the legislation.” “But here we are three years later.” “Of the 400,000 claims that have been submitted to the Department of Navy, the government has settled only a couple hundred of them.” “For everybody else, they’re taking the position that they’re not entitled … to compensation.”

Shanahan: “Sounds just like the vaccine injury court … ” Ashley Keller revealed that Camp Lejeune victims’ claims are being denied DESPITE the government’s own scientific data PROVING that chemicals in the water harmed these people. “Even though we are using the government’s own surveys, the government’s own analysis, the government’s own data to show the harm that was caused by the poisonous chemicals in this water—the government’s position is the science doesn’t prove that people like Ms. Robinson got sick because of that water exposure.”

Then came the most heart-wrenching part of the story. Virginia Robinson has spent FOUR DECADES fighting cancer from the chemicals she was exposed to at Camp Lejeune. In 2023, she had three cancers at once—and cirrhosis of the liver. At 20 years old, she had to go to the ER, and doctors told her she had the flu. “I was unconscious. I fought the flu for three weeks, but it wasn’t the flu.” “Later it came out that I had a leukemia.” “First I had the leukemia. Then in 1989, when I gave birth to my second child, I had cervix cancer.” “They did a burnout surgery on me to get the cancer cells, and I was okay until 2010.” “In 2010, I developed colon cancer.” “I had to have my ascending colon taken out. I had to go through chemotherapy for nine months.” In 2014, her husband and daughter both died with illnesses linked to Camp Lejeune. “My husband died from lung cancer and melanoma.” “My daughter was 32 years old and died from bladder cancer.” “She was born at Camp Lejeune.” Then, Virginia’s cancers returned. “2015, I was diagnosed with left breast cancer.” “I was doing fine until 2023. I had cirrhosis of the liver and I was … constantly having colonoscopies and CAT scans to make sure my liver was okay.” “In the process … I went through kidney cancer, liver cancer, and then my right breast cancer.” “I had three cancers I was fighting at one time.” “They did radiation on my liver cancer, they did radiation on my kidney cancer, my breast cancer.” “In March of [2024], I had a liver transplant.” “Now, I’m recovering from a liver transplant and all the cancers.”

Virginia Robinson isn’t alone. Over 1 million veterans and their families were poisoned at Camp Lejeune. Bookmark the thread below for later—Michael Latourette was poisoned there and now has to pay $3 million+ a year for cancer treatment. Now, back to Robinson’s story:🧵
Holden Culotta@Holden_Culotta · Sep 25, 2025This is the worst case of mass poisoning in US history. And the government covered it up for decades. 40 years later, victims are still dying “almost every other day.” From 1953 to 1987, over 1 million veterans and their families were poisoned at Camp Lejeune. Michael Latourette is one of the victims. Now, he has to pay $3 million+ a year for cancer treatment—and the government is still refusing to compensate him. This is his tragic story: 🧵THREAD

The water at Camp Lejeune didn’t just have traces of toxic chemicals. These chemicals were literally DUMPED into the water supply. Keller: “We’re talking about levels that are 10 times, 30 times, 50 times, 150 times EPA limits.” “These are not just barely above some threshold safety limit. It’s many multiples of that.”

🚨“TRUST NO ONE.” Nicole Shanahan delivered a stark warning to American parents: “You’ve got to just look out for yourself.” “Definitely don’t trust the government, because the government does not care.” “I’ve spoken to many vaccine-injured families.” “So I have no doubt that the government knew about this [and] has done nothing to remediate the pain caused to military members, veterans, and their families.” “I have no doubt that they caused your cancer, your pain and suffering … because they’ve done it to millions of Americans through faulty vaccines.”

The Trump Administration can deliver justice for Camp Lejeune victims NOW. Keller: “The [2022] Camp Lejeune Justice Act already authorized the Administration to take care of people like Ms. Robinson and the 399,999 other people who have submitted their claims.” “This has already been budgeted for by Congress. The Administration doesn’t need a new appropriation.” “They don’t have to ask Congress for new money.” “There’s full authority right now today for this to be taken care of.”

Next, Shanahan dropped a BOMBSHELL takedown of Trump’s AG Pam Bondi. “Pam Bondi is more interested in suppressing speech.” “This is a DOJ right now that’s just misprioritizing things, getting caught up in silly fights, letting Big Tech companies get away with censorship.” “I’m really disappointed in her on many levels.” “This is something that would be obvious to do … and I’m sure she’s heard about it.” “Instead, she’s going after, like, a Kinko’s print shop for not printing some things.” “I want to see justice, or some semblance of it.”

Finally, Ashley Keller revealed something that will break your heart. “We lose one of our clients almost every day.” His law firm represents many other Camp Lejeune victims, and many are now succumbing to their illnesses as the government endlessly stonewalls them. “We’re not talking about young families anymore.” “Given the number of clients that my firm represents, we lose one of our clients almost every day, and we’re replacing the name of a plaintiff with the name of an estate and next of kin.” “These are people who are sick and they deserve to get their compensation … while they’re living and breathing.” “It shouldn’t be going to their family members after they’ve been dead and buried.”

There are four key steps the Trump Administration can take. This is how Secretary Pete Hegseth can deliver justice for Camp Lejeune victims—and leave a legacy of justice for the MAHA movement: First, reform the broken claims system from the 2022 CLJA. Victims had just a 2-year window to file compensation claims under this law. Under the Biden Administration, only 0.03% of nearly 400,000 claims were paid. Now, the Trump Administration can reverse this utter failure. Second, expand the settlement framework called the Elective Option. This framework categorizes victims’ claims into three tiers, based on how strong the evidence is to link their illnesses to toxic water exposure at Camp Lejeune from 1953 to 1987. The DOJ promised to settle all Tier I and Tier II illness claims diagnosed or treated within 35 years of exposure. Third, fast-track access to military records. In order to receive compensation for their claims, victims must submit military records of their time at Camp Lejeune. The National Archives, however, is slow-walking and stonewalling their requests for records. Fourth, reform the compensation plan to deliver fair and just compensation BEFORE victims pass away. It has now been 38 years since the mass poisoning at Camp Lejeune finally ended—and victims are losing their lives almost every day.
