Summary

The thread examines specific examples from her articles to illustrate claims of editorializing and factual distortions.

I thought the Title of this article was strange. Excessive and unprofessional editorializing Like a Teenager's Tweet In these situations, I look at the author, and learn about them So here's a thread 🧵 on Ellie Quinlan Haughtaling and her work

  5. #5

This Article from Ellie discusses "Republicans are scamming Old People" But her own article shows that both Republican and Democrat's do this I commend her including the Democrats doing it as well, but it also makes the title of the article very misleading She includes that apparently Winred (RNC) has 7x more FTC complaints than Actblue (DNC) but does not include a reference She also does not explain that Trump is not is not associated in anyway with Winred (this is the way Superpacs work) but does mention he's the beneficiary

  6. #6

Highly credible polls But what she references is not a voting poll but how voters feel about certain issues She doesn't explicitly say it's a voting poll, but decide for yourself whether this is misleading

Trump would decimate Social Security. Why? A report from a "The Committee for a Responsible Federal Government" How would this happen? Ending taxes on tips and overtime pay.... and social security. Yes. Really Apparently tariffs on imports would also increase inflation (inflation is a monetary phenomenom that is the result, ultimately, of interest rates from the Federal Reserve) Oh and she mentions that it SS would reach insolvency by 2034 anyway

Good Lord. There's a lot here, I promise it's worth it, speed round on mostly headlines she chooses. This is absolutely insane.

Trump is lashing out and spouting gibberish He is also a fascist while being the first president since Jimmy Carter not to start a new international conflict Idk, maybe it's the current VP and candidate that's funding two wars including one where 10,000s of civilians including 10,000s of children have been killed

Trump is freaked out and unhinged JD Vance is gaslighting

  16. #16

Apparently Trump is a dictator Why? Ellie lies to make her point. She claims in her article (green text) that he "would use force against Democrats if they chose to protest in the streets..." Lie. He actually said (in the article she herself linked) (red text) all of this... in respone to a question about RIOTING, with no mention of Democrats Ellie. Rioting is not the same as protesting. Using the national guard or military in extreme cases is normal for RIOTS.

General Mark Milley is worried he will be court martialed for calling a Chinese (not Chinese-American but a People's Liberation Army of the CCP, yes really) General about Trump's Rhetoric Apparently court martialing a General for contacting a foreign General about your boss, the President, makes you a fascist

Roger Stone is plotting a coup

  19. #19

Valid criticism. Can't find her criticizing the current Vice President who is supporting the war in Gaza Maybe she did, but I can't find it in a sea of this Trump bashing
