As I reflect on a certain positive thread that ended up becoming infested by T*RFs, I can't help but reiterate how sorry I feel for them. It was a thread where cis and trans women and even trans men came to be happy, but the T*RFs are so miserable they couldnt let it happen.

How sad must your life be to see happiness and community in others and then attempt to destroy that? I'm not even angry, I feel really bad for them. They choose to live their lives swallowing poison just so they can spit some in the eyes of people they hate.

Why spend your time seeking out things that make you angry? What tricked you into living your life in fear? Why waste your short time on this earth picking fights with people that have less power than you?

And I say this as someone who DID use to spend her time seeking things out to get angry at and people to argue with. And I can tell you it never made me happy or even satisfied. I would lie awake arguing imaginary figures or waste time reading things that made me mad

One of the best things I ever did was decide to stop getting mad at things on the internet 😅 I've hit the milestone of 10k followers today, and I'd like to think my ability to hang on this long is in thanks to no small part on being able to walk away when I need to

Hell, if I wanted to right now, I could go search out tr*nsphobe threads and start arguing and yelling and QTing and screenshotting. But it wouldn't convince anyone. It would just take time and effort and emotional energy; and I need all of that to uplift MY community

People have told me my twitter feed and my twitch stream are comforting and that is genuinely all I want. I'm not interested in fighting or anger. And it makes me sad when I see those that feel the need for those to fill some sort of void in their lives

And I reiterate, as someone who used to do all that shit I KNOW why they do it. It's a temporary high and makes you feel in control for a little while. But it's fleeting and is harder to get every time. And if you dont watch out, it becomes the ONLY thing in your life

And THAT is what makes me sad. They could spend that time playing with their pets or hugging their children or on a date with their partner or comforting a friend or organising for activism or a million million positive things! But they chose to troll a marginalised group 😓

All I can think of is the scene in Community where Pierce trolls all of them in D&D, and the group collectively spends their last turn pitying him for how sad and lonely he is from his own actions.

Case in point: I got followed by T*RFs after posting this. Why follow someone you hate and disagree with? It's like walking behind someone on the street until you get a chance to call the cops on them- Wait

And herein lies the exact problem with basing your community on hatred: it's a race to the bottom, you're just as liable to eat each other and be alone as you are to actually have any sense of community or happiness.

Anyway I'm going to sleep. I'm starting to get some ghost QTs so I'm sure by the time I wake up, this will be a dumpster fire. But I'm not deleting or locking down because I refuse to leave. If this thread brought you comfort or joy, then great! I'm so happy for you.

If you see someone trying to make a fuss in the comments, please don't fight them. Go off and give a friend a compliment, or throw a treat to your pet, or close twitter and watch a show with your loved one. I leave you with one quote that has always stuck with me
