SummaryThe House is voting on H.R. 8595, a funding bill that includes unprecedented restrictions on US government-funded NGOs and contractors from engaging in any social media censorship activities, including content moderation pressure campaigns and supporting foreign censorship laws. The bill requires agencies to report compliance measures to Congress and targets organizations like the National Endowment for Democracy that have merged democracy promotion with counter-disinformation work.Jun 23, 20267 tweets♥ 8.4KMike Benz@MikeBenzCyberA couple interesting notes on the reveal that Obama’s White House Counsel (top lawyer to the President) Kathy Ruemmler emailed Jeffrey Epstein she was awarded the CIA Agency Medal just hours after get...
SummaryObama's White House Counsel Kathy Ruemmler received a secret CIA Agency Medal in 2015 from CIA Director John Brennan, revealed through emails to Jeffrey Epstein. The award to a private citizen with undisclosed CIA ties raises questions about her role in helping the CIA overcome legal obstacles, particularly given her earlier efforts to block Benghazi disclosures to protect Brennan's confirmation and her close relationship with Epstein.Feb 2, 202614 tweets♥ 9.5KMike Benz@MikeBenzCyberIn 1999, Jeffrey Epstein anonymously FOIA'd the CIA to obtain all CIA records "that might reflect an open or otherwise acknowledged Agency affiliation" between himself and the CIA. SummaryThe author has been warning the Trump administration since 2018 about the EU's Digital Services Act and its mandatory Disinformation Code that took effect in 2025, predicting exactly the enforcement actions and fines (like the €120M fine against X) now occurring. They argue the US must aggressively counter these EU censorship laws or face escalating consequences in subsequent years.Dec 5, 20254 tweets♥ 5.5KMike Benz@MikeBenzCyberThe “Critical Infrastructure” Hoax And How It Permanently Altered The Course Of American History 🧵
SummaryThis thread claims the U.S. government used a "critical infrastructure" designation for elections as a legal pretext to censor Trump supporters and opposition voices on social media, starting with a January 6, 2017 coordinated effort by DHS and the intelligence community. The author argues this framework was later expanded to suppress speech about COVID-19, vaccines, and other topics by classifying them as threats to critical infrastructure.Jul 31, 202514 tweets♥ 23.7KMike Benz@MikeBenzCyber
