We have good news about the Pixel 11. It still has at least bare minimum support for MTE at a hardware level. We think they removed most of the hardware acceleration from the CPU cache to save money....

SummaryGoogle disabled MTE (Memory Tagging Extension) support on Pixel 11 at launch but re-enabled it in firmware with Android 17 QPR2 Beta 4. Early testing shows only ~5% performance overhead in asymmetric mode, suggesting the feature was disabled due to performance concerns rather than hardware limitations, though Google has not publicly explained the decision.Sep 1, 20263 tweets♥ 2.1K
